OSI Group President- David McDonald

David McDonald is the president and COO of the OSI Group, LLC. OSI Group is an international organization that prides itself in the supply of value-added protein items such as sausages, beef patties, pizza, and sandwiches. The company is a supplier to major food brands in the world such as McDonald, Subway, Papa John’s Starbucks, and Burger King.

David studied Animal Science at Iowa State University. He once served as a Project Manager at OSI and as a member of the board of Directors. He is the Chairman of North American Meat Institute and was once an Independent Director at Marfrig Global Foods S.A.

With the current headquarters at Aurora, OSI has approximately 80 branches in 17 countries. Under the leadership of David McDonald, the corporation has opened a beef processing plant in Poland, opened a new modern feed mill in China with a capacity of up to 600,000 metric tons per year in China, and launched a new frozen food plant Madanapalle, India. In addition, the company also expanded to Geneva and Hungary.

The company is set to become the largest poultry producer in China after opening two new facilities, and eight others still running. OSI has been operating in China for more than 20 years, and the country’s population continues to hold a huge market for the company’s products.

The most recent endeavor under Davis Mc Donald is the acquisition of Baho Foods. Though the details of the transaction remain unrevealed, the acquisition of the Dutch Manufacturer of convenience foods and, snacks and deli meats has expanded OSI’s operations in Europe. Baho has five subsidiaries; Henri van de Bilt, Gelderland Frischwaren, Vital Convenience, Bakx Foods, and Q Smart Life; and two processing plants in Germany and Netherlands.

David Mc Donald has promised to retain Baho employees and together, they will come up with new strategies to grow the company in Europe. According to David, the success of OSI can be attributed to the great customer relationship and a deep understanding of cultures. The consumers’ tastes and preferences influence each strategy taken, and the company regularly updates equipment for food safety and quality.

The President insists that the localization of management teams in different countries has enabled the impeccable performance of the corporation. All the agricultural suppliers are also under keen observation for quality upkeep. In addition, the company engages with customers early, to ensure that they provide solutions towards their dietary needs. Under the steadfast leadership of Davis McDonald, OSI will continue to thrive.
